Looks Like Bees

Today is Thanksgiving Day for us. We started the day with a mushroom hunt.

Sam took us to his favorite Chanterelle patch, but we had to look for quite a while before we got into them.

This wood is split and ready to burn. Kat said "looks like bees" when we walked by. Apparently it's not uncommon to find wood that was being cut when the woodcutter found bees and left in a hurry.

Kat's forest mushroom foraging outfit is ironically similar to her beach clam hunting outfit.

The bush whacking was easy on the upper part. Barbara had a yard sale on Sams shortcut down to the easy trail.

They have to get really old to degrade like this. The tree looks ancient too.

Is that a bear?

Still looking.

Ahh, there's one.

Ooh, a lobster!

The Russula is insipid but when the Lobster mushroom engulfs it, it is converted to a delicious firm mushroom with a slightly seafood taste.

That should do it for today's feast!
