Last week was very emotional. There were parties, new friends and incredible weather, but there was also anguish with the disappearance of our beloved Chloe. We can only hope that she is safe with a new family and maybe someday someone will scan her and see from the chip that she belongs with us. Or maybe not.

Regardless, this is part of the story of what happened on our adventure, as painful as it is.

This week was absolutely beautiful with clear blue sky's every morning after the marine layer (of fog, that is for you land-lubbers) burned off. The What Ranch is looking gorgeous. Sam had mowed meandering pathways throughout the lush sylvan and tall grass areas so we could all enjoy the park.

Why ladies, fancy meeting you here.

Wurstchen and Chuy are getting along great together. Chuy is not in this picture but the two are never far apart.

Da bees.

Our friend Yeonui on her first trip to America. Here we are at Crescent Beach near Joyce.

Port Angeles from the Black Ball Ferry to Victoria.

This great mural in downtown Port Angeles is of the Ferry that used to run to Alaska. Our friend Martha's father was a merchant marine. Captain Armitstead bought a ferry with the plan to restore it and turn it into a youth hostel. It, like our RV, wasn't able to complete the trip and is a wreck in Johnson's Cove Alaska.

So many incredible meals here as usual. Chef Sam has been doing the heavy lifting, but in this picture we're enjoying Wiener Schnitzel and Spaetzle from Chef Barbara.

Sam's birthday party. As with small children and kittens, the box is more fun than the present itself.

We went to the farthest north and west point that you can get to in the mainland US. It is the Tatoosh Island trail on Cape Flattery. It's remote by any definition, but it's "only" 43 miles from Sam and Kat's place. The walk down to the water and the views of the sunset were incredible. Thank you to Yeonui for this and many other pictures in this week's blog.

Crescent Lake

The beach at Log Cabin Resort, Crescent Lake. The different shades of blue are striking.

Another of Sam & Kat's famous seafood festivals. We enjoyed eating lobsters in Maine, but it's sooooo wonderful to have fresh Dungies again.

Fresh Oysters

A little halibut.

Prawns, scallops, mussels, clams, crayfish, sausage added to the Dungeness crabs.

Add rice, corn, potatoes, lemon, garlic butter and beer.

Buon Gusto! Dig in.

As the sun set on the seafood festival, the action moved to the fire pit.

Where we made s'mores and had conversation until late into the night.

Morning came far too early and it was time to take our guest back to the airport for her long flight home.

Now the holiday is over for a few weeks while we focus is on making sure we have all the i's dotted and t's crossed before we leave the country. In other words, time to get to work.
